letterpress tags in Ladies’ Home Journal

Tags - Ladies Home Journal

Wanted to share a little excitement I had the other day. A little while ago someone purchased a set of tags from my etsy shop saying they may be used in a magazine photo shoot for Ladies Home Journal, and yesterday they wrote me to ask where to send the magazine! Luckily I didn’t have to wait to see the photo and found it online. It’s exciting to be published!

You can see the photo online here http://www.lhj.com/style/covers/hostess-gifts/?page=4 and it’s also on the main page, the third photo that shows up on the slideshow http://www.lhj.com/

Happy Birthdays, Congrats and Hellos

Since I have so many graphical cards, I decided that I should make some specific greeting cards. If nothing else these will come in handy for me to have around the house!

San Francisco etsy meetup

Last night they ETSY admin were in town and had a meet-up for etsy seller and buyers at the Crossroads Café, down on Delancey Street. A great location for our large group, which took over most of the Cafe.

Thanks to all the admins that attended included Maria Thomas, Etsy’s CEO (twitter), Sara Hicks, Etsy’s VP of Product (twitter), Chad Dickerson, our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) (twitter), Jesse Hertzberg, Director of Business Development, and Carrington Williams, Director of Strategic Finance. [copy from here]

Some highlights for me included…

  • meeting and getting to know Mandy from smallthreads
  • hearing how API is open for programers to create widgets for etsy
  • meeting and sharing etsy tips and tricks with other sellers

The etsy admin informed us about alot of behind the scenes happenings…

  • better server capacity so there will be less down time
  • working on seamless checkout, so buyers better understand the purchasing and payment process
  • rearrange shop feature is in beta (can’t wait to play with that)
  • etsy hacks: Heart-0-matic, Grease Monkey
  • current focus on buying tools, to bring revenue in for the sellers
  • favorite organization possible in the future

new letterpress cards

Had a great evening printing last week and came away with some new cards that I’m really excited about. Both of these designs are printed from photopolymer plates of photographs that I used for my 2009 calendar.

The first card is of St Peter & Paul Church in San Francisco, and the second was taken at Fisherman’s Wharf.  Both cards are available right now in my etsy shop. Would love to hear what you think of them?

new press

It’s here! The first piece to my “studio.” I was glad to find a Kelsey table top press that had pretty much all it’s parts and didn’t need restoration, so I just need to get a few supplies and will soon be pulling my first print!

wedding invite

I had the pleasure this month to design and print these wedding invitations. The red and blue were matched to Waste Not Paper envelope colors and the invites were printed on Crane’s Lettra 220#. This was the first time printing on a surface so thick (other than coasters), but I really liked it.
